The past couple of weeks I’ve been feeling a bit down in the dumps. For some reason I hit another wave of doubt about my blog. I felt like I’m this tiny blip on the radar that is the blogging community. But today I checked my blog stats, only to find out that I’d been mentioned by Natalie from thunderl0ve. Turns out she wrote a post on notable blogs, in which she mentioned mine! Reading her comments made me feel so much lighter. To have someone that you really know nothing about, other than the words they share on their corner of the internet, say such lovely things is truly amazing. It honestly brightened my week and reminded me how important it is to share the love. Sometime next week I intend to do a post on blogs that I’ve been enjoying!

CORAL BLUSH FOR THE LAAADIEEES
Someone once told me that if you add "laaadiiesss" to the end of any sentence it instantly becomes creepy (see title). I think it works. So I just got back from the gym and now I’m munching away on some salad and sipping kombucha. It sounds kind of impressively healthy, but less so after I mention the fact that all I’ve eaten today up until this point is a variety of desserts. Ain’t no kombucha gonna save me from that damage. Here I come heart disease. Anyways, less about that business and more about why we’re really here – mekuuup. Somehow I keep buying coral blush. I don’t know how it happens (maybe a total lack of self control?), but it does. So why not make the best of it and show you guys some of these pretty young thangs.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR EYES LOOK BIGGER
Is it just me or is there something inherently appealing about big Bambi eyes? That might be why I love 60’s makeup so much. They did a great doe eyed look back then. I think we would all love to have eyes like Zooey Deschanel or Mila Kunis, but not many of us are actually born with peepers that take up half of our face. Luckily I’ve got a few handy dandy tips and tricks up my sleeve to help create the illusion. So here’s what I did:

GOODIES FROM ENGLAND!
When you’re a beauty blog obsessee and somebody tells you that they’re taking a trip to England you pretty much poop your pants. I have followed a lot of English youtubers and bloggers for years now and listened to them recommend plenty of English brands. It’s a little bit torturous to see everyone talking about stuff that you can’t get your hands on (I mean this in the most first world problems of ways). But a month ago my lovely sister packed up her bags and headed off to England. Needless to say I sent her off with a hug, a creepy inhale of her hair and list of goodies to pick up for me! She’s good to me... mostly for still talking to me after the continuous hair sniffing. Classy is not likely to be the first word one would use to describe me.

VOLUSPA CANDLES
When you live in basement suite anything that helps to freshen up the place is a godsend. I’ve got reef diffusers and incense strewn around the house, but a good old fashioned scented candle is really what tickles me the most. Voluspa candles have done a great job with the tickling. I’d almost go so far as to say they’ve tickled me senseless, but I’ll try not to get so carried away. I mentioned one of these candles in my monthly favourites, but I’ve since gone back for more. Mmmm I may indeed have a problem.

VISITING VICTORIA
I decided to pop over to Victoria to
visit the fam and to explore one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
This morning I met up with my sister and we headed into town with the intention
of eating all the food. All of it. First we hit up Cafe Bliss and ordered a
couple of green smoothies and a classic bliss bar. Everything there is vegan,
raw and packed with nutritional goodies and it wasn’t even swarming with hoards
of filthy hippies. I was disappointed that I didn’t have to unpack my stick to
beat them off.

FOUNDATION PRIMERS
It's prime time we talk a bit about foundation primers. Oh ho ho. I remember Estee saying in her Tarte Brand Focus video that she’s not usually a huge fan of primers because she worries that they're just another layer of something to bung up her skin. That’s exactly my fear. I worry a lot about my skin breaking out from makeup. It's quite congested and I try pretty hard not to put things on it that will exacerbate the issue. I forgo foundation quite often for this reason. I know some people say that primer acts as a protective barrier that stops makeup from clogging your pores, but I have trouble believing that with a lot of primers.

HOW TO FAKE FRECKLES
I always wished I had
freckles. Both of my sisters have them and somehow I got totally ripped
off. I really have not a hint of freckle. So I decided not to accept my
fate of being “regular skin person” and instead I took matters into my
own hands. My glorious, artistic hands. Vom. Okay, so I may not have
magical hands, but I have learned a few tips and tricks when it comes to
faking freckles. I know some people think I’m a bit weird for drawing
on freckles, but I thing they’re quite sweet looking and I reckon that
anything that warms up my resting bitch face is a good thing.
