I love a good cleanse. There's something so wonderful and relaxing about getting home from a long day's work and massaging an oil cleanser into the face. Equally, it can be refreshing to wake yourself up with a splash of water and spot of cream cleanser. Good stuff. So yeah, I tend to go a bit crazy on cleansers because they provide such an experience. I've accumulated three newbies in the past couple of months.
Nuxe Melting Cleansing Gel with Rose Petals
I'd never really heard much about this cleanser, but when I was in France I decided to give it a try nonetheless. I thought how wrong can you go with that title? Well, I'm still on the fence with this one. First off, it doesn't smell particularly rosy. Bummer dude. It does remove makeup, but not as well as your average oil cleanser (this may be partly due to the fact that you use it with water). It takes quite a bit of working it into the skin. So for me I would only use it on days where I'd skipped foundation. The texture does feel very balmy and luxurious – that's a huge plus – however, it doesn't leave my skin feeling quite as plump as I'd like. It's not stripping, but it's not hydrating either.
Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser
I had no trouble making my mind up about this cleanser. It's heavenly. First off, it smells unmistakably of roses. If you're a fan of rose scents, then you will love this. It also feels like a dream. It's so thick, creamy and silky. I love massaging it around my face. The best part is that it's incredibly hydrating. For anyone who struggles with dry skin, this is your guy. It actually leaves your skin feeling more moisturized than it did prior to cleansing. On top of all of that, it's only £8. You lucky English folk.
Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser
I should start by saying that I like this cleanser, but I can understand why you wouldn't. I purchased it because, while I like oil cleansers, I can't stand how they run down your hands as you're using them. I thought that perhaps a gel/balm would solve this problem. I love the way this cleanser looks and feels. It's so satisfyingly wobbly and jelly-ish.You massage it into dry skin and it feels lovely and silky, removing makeup with ease. The smell is citrusy and fresh, but in no way overpowering. It's an enjoyable experience to use this cleanser. However, here's where it will go wrong for some people. It doesn't wash off that easily. It needs to be removed with a cloth and even then you'll have a slight residue left (for that reason I don't use it to remove my eye makeup). I don't actually mind this because to me it just feels like a tiny bit of moisturizer left behind, but if you can't stand the feeling of residue, then maybe give this a pass.
